Why We Started Ascend.

At Ascend, we believe in slow and steady. Financial wealth doesn’t happen overnight. And call us old-school but we are building Ascend on the idea that homeownership remains the most sound path to wealth and security for most families. It is more than just the financial benefits, it’s the stability and pride it provides to families. A 2016 National Association of Realtors report on the benefits of stable housing states that:

“Homeownership boosts the educational performance of children, induces higher participation in civic and volunteering activity, improves health care outcomes, lowers crime rates and lessens welfare dependency.”

When communities have skin in the game, they are more invested in its growth and success. We believe in that alignment and we want to be an accelerant of these benefits.

We continue to read a lot of articles about how America should become a nation of renters. Supporters of this opinion claim the benefits of not being committed to one city and the benefits of job mobility outweigh the return one gets in owning a home. We think that is a bit of stretch based on the many conversations we are having with families.
